Overview

The Securities page is a central component of the Deltix Universe Configurator that enables you to manage trading symbols and their parameters. Here, you can add, modify, and maintain a comprehensive list of trading instruments for your trading system. The page supports various asset classes including FX, Futures, Options, Indices, Bonds, ETFs, Equities, and Exchange Traded Synthetics.

Interface Layout

The Securities page displays a list of symbols added to the system. The interface is divided into the following key components:

  1. Top Panel: Contains action buttons for adding, importing, and managing symbols
  2. Navigation Tabs: Organize symbols by instrument type (ALL, FX, FUTURE, OPTION, INDEX, BOND, EXCHANGE TRADED SYNTHETIC, EQUITY, ETF, CUSTOM) and displays custom presets
  3. Filter Bar: Provides basic and advanced filtering options
  4. Main Grid: Displays the list of symbols with their properties in a customizable table format
  5. Side Panel: Opens contextually for symbol editing

Key functionality of the Securities page includes:

  1. Adding symbols from Deltix Security Master, manually, or via CSV import
  2. Advanced filtering and search capabilities
  3. Symbol management including deletion, duplication, bulk editing, and synchronization with Security Master

Symbols Operations

Adding Symbols

Adding Symbols from Security Master

Deltix Security Master provides a comprehensive database of trading symbols with reference data collected from supported exchanges through public endpoints. This ensures accurate and up-to-date trading operations. To add symbols from Deltix Security Master:

  1. Click the Select Available Symbols button in the top panel to open a window displaying available symbols.
  2. Use the searching and filtering options to locate specific instruments based on your requirements.
  3. Select the desired symbols from the filtered list and click Add To The Stored to add them into your system.

Adding Symbols Manually

To create a custom trading instrument or add a symbol not available in Deltix Security Master:

  1. Click the Add New button in the top panel.
  2. In the Add New Symbol dialog, enter the required symbol information.
  3. Click Add Symbol to create the new instrument.

Adding Symbols from CSV File

  1. Click the Load Instruments (.csv) button in the top panel.
  2. Select your CSV file in the file browser dialog.
  3. Upon successful upload, you will see a confirmation message:

  • When importing a new symbol, it will be added to the system
  • When importing a symbol that already exists (same name and exchange), its properties will be updated with values from the imported file

The following CSV formats are supported:

  • TimeBase files (the securities stream exported in CSV format)
  • Universe Configurator files (CSV exported from the Securities tab)

Duplicating Existing Symbols

To create a new symbol based on an existing one, you can use the duplication feature. This is especially helpful when you need to create multiple similar instruments:

  1. In the grid, select the symbol you want to use as a template.
  2. Click the Duplicate button in the top panel, or double-click the symbol and select Duplicate in the side panel.
  3. A side panel will open with all fields pre-populated from the original symbol, except the symbol name. Update the necessary fields for your new symbol.
  4. Click Add Symbol to create the new instrument.

Managing Symbols

Editing Individual Symbols

To modify symbol's attributes:

  1. Double-click the symbol or select the symbol in the grid and click the Edit button in the top panel.
  2. A side panel will open displaying all editable fields for the selected symbol. Note that Exchange, Symbol, and Type fields cannot be modified.
  3. Update the necessary parameters.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

Bulk Editing Multiple Symbols

Bulk Edit allows you to update multiple symbols at once, streamlining the management of large symbol sets. Any changes you make will apply to all selected symbols.

To perform a bulk edit:

  1. Select multiple symbols in the grid.
  2. Click the Bulk Edit button in the top panel.
  3. A side panel will show editable fields for the selected securities. Note that:
    • Exchange, Symbol, and Type fields cannot be modified
    • (Multiple values) placeholder indicates that the selected symbols currently have different values for this field
    • Enter value placeholder indicates that the selected symbols currently have no value set for this field
    • If all selected symbols share the same value for a field, that value is displayed directly
  4. Update the desired fields.
  5. Click Save to apply your changes to all selected symbols.

Removing Symbols

To remove symbols from the system:

  1. In the grid, select one or more symbols that you want to remove.
  2. Click the Remove button in the top panel.
  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Remove to delete the selected symbols.

Security Master Synchronization

Universe Configurator automatically checks stored instrument metadata against the Deltix Security Master source. The synchronization system ensures your trading symbols remain accurate and up-to-date, maintaining the reliability of your trading operations.

Any discrepancies between local and source data are highlighted in the grid, making it easy to identify outdated information.

Use the Not Synced Data toggle at the top of the table to identify symbols that need synchronization. When enabled, only symbols with available updates are displayed.

There are several ways to keep your symbols synchronized:

Manual Synchronization

  1. Select symbols with available updates.
  2. Click the Sync Data button in the top panel.
Synchronizing a Single Symbol

When synchronizing one symbol:

  1. A side panel will open and highlight mismatching fields.
  2. Click Sync Data button to update mismatched values.
  3. Press Save to apply the changes.
Synchronizing Multiple Symbols

When synchronizing multiple symbols:

  1. The Sync Selected Symbols dialog will open displaying the previous and new values for mismatched parameters.
  2. Review the changes for each symbol.
  3. Click Sync All button to apply updates to all selected symbols.

Automatic Synchronization

Navigate to the Preferences page and activate the Auto update stored symbols option. The system will automatically synchronize symbols when changes are detected in the Security Master.

Search and Filter

The Securities page offers comprehensive filtering capabilities through two methods: Basic Filters and Advanced Filters. These filtering options are available for both stored and available instruments lists.

Basic Filters

Basic filters provide an intuitive interface for filtering securities using predefined fields.

To use basic filters:

  1. Click a filter box (default filters include Exchange, Symbol, Type, and Base Currency)
  2. Select one or multiple values from the dropdown menu
  3. The grid instantly updates to display matching securities

To customize your filter view:

  1. Click the Add Filter button to reveal additional filter options
  2. Select desired fields from the dropdown menu to add them to your filter panel

To remove filters:

  1. Click the x icon next to the filter name
  2. Or use Reset Filters to clear all applied filters at once

Advanced Filters

Advanced filters provide powerful, expression-based filtering with support for complex conditions and auto-suggestions.

To use advanced filters:

  1. Select the Advanced Filters button
  2. Begin typing to see auto-suggested properties and operators
  3. Construct your filter expression using supported conditions:
    • Simple filters: Base Currency is BTC
    • Negative conditions: Type is not OPTION
    • Numerical comparisons: Option Strike Price >= 100
    • Empty value checks: Option Strike Price is empty
    • Combined expressions: Base Currency is (BTC or ETH) and Option Expiration Date is Until 2025-04-01 21:15:50
  4. Press Enter to apply the filter

The advanced filters mode maintains a history of your previous search queries for quick access:

  1. Click the clock icon in the filter box
  2. Select from your recent searches to instantly apply that filter
  3. Use Clear recent searches to remove all saved queries

Presets

Presets allow you to save and quickly access specific filtered views of your securities. This feature helps streamline your workflow by providing instant access to frequently used symbol combinations.

Creating a Preset

To create a new preset:

  1. Apply your desired Basic or Advanced Filters
  2. Click the Add Preset button in the toolbar
  3. Provide a name for the preset and confirm by clicking the check button
  4. The preset will be added to the toolbar for immediate access

Managing Presets

Once a preset is selected, you have several options available through the preset menu:

  1. Save current: Updates the current preset with any filter changes you have made
  2. Save as new: Creates a new preset while preserving the original one
  3. Discard changes: Reverts any unsaved changes back to the last saved state of the preset
  4. Rename: Allows you to change the name of the current preset
  5. Duplicate: Creates an exact copy of the current preset with a new name
  6. Delete: Removes the selected preset from your preset list
